How Crushed Whole Apples Make Fruit Accessible for Everyone

Fruit should be for everyone. But for a lot of Australians, enjoying a simple apple isn’t always that simple.

Maybe it’s a child who refuses anything with lumps. Maybe it’s an older family member who struggles with harder textures. Or maybe it’s someone living with a disability who needs softer, smoother options just to get the nutrition they deserve.

At Upple, we believe nobody should miss out on the goodness of whole fruit. That’s why we do things a little differently.

What Makes Upple Different?

Most apple drinks on the shelf are made from juice. The apple is pressed, the liquid is extracted, and everything else (the fibre, the peel, the pulp) gets left behind. What you end up with is basically flavoured sugar water.

Upple takes a different approach. We crush whole, cored apples, keeping the apple fibre, peel, and pulp intact. That means you’re getting the full apple nutrition that comes from eating the real thing, just in a smooth, drinkable form. It’s whole fruit in a bottle, not just the sweet bits.

A Fruit Option That Works for More People

One of the things we hear most from families is how tricky it can be to get enough fruit into daily routines. Parents searching for fruit for kids know the struggle: some children are enthusiastic fruit eaters, and some won’t go near anything with a certain colour or texture.

For kids and adults who find certain food textures challenging, Upple offers a smooth, consistent alternative. It’s also a practical option as a soft food for elderly family members who may find biting and chewing whole apples difficult but still want real fruit rather than a processed substitute.

We’re especially proud of our partnership with Able Foods, an organisation that supports people with disabilities by providing accessible meal options. For people with eating difficulties or texture sensitivities, having a pureed fruit option that still contains real fibre and nutrients can make a genuine difference to everyday wellbeing.

Whether your household is navigating food for fussy eaters, managing age-related changes, or supporting someone with a disability, Upple is designed to fit naturally into the day.

Why the Fibre Matters

When you strip fibre out of fruit, you lose a lot of what makes it good for you. Apple fibre may help support healthy digestion, and eating whole fruit (fibre included) means the natural sugars are absorbed more slowly, which is better for sustained energy. For growing kids, older adults, and anyone in between, that fibre is doing real work.

Most conventional apple juices remove this entirely. Because Upple keeps the fibre in, our apple drink delivers more of what your body actually needs from fruit. It’s a small difference in how the drink is made, but it adds up over time.

Grown by a Family, Made with Purpose

Upple is made by the Savio family, third-generation apple growers from Queensland’s Granite Belt region. They’ve been growing apples for decades, and they know their fruit inside and out. The apples we use are real, locally grown fruit — but they’re the ones that supermarkets reject for being the wrong size, shape, or colour. There’s nothing wrong with them. They taste exactly the same.

Rather than letting perfectly good fruit go to waste, we crush it into something everyone can enjoy. It’s a straightforward idea: rescue imperfect fruit, keep all the goodness in, and make it available to as many people as possible. In a country where food waste is a growing concern, that feels like a meaningful thing to be doing.

Fruit for Every Family

We started Upple because we saw a gap. Too many people were missing out on the benefits of whole fruit, whether because of texture, ability, age, or just the realities of busy family life. Our crushed whole apple drinks are a simple way to change that.

No complicated ingredients. No stripped-back juice pretending to be healthy. Just real apples, crushed whole, made accessible for everyone.
